Who can join

The business

  • Enrolls through its employer, since employees can't sign up on their own
  • Has 20 or more W-2 employees
  • Can be located in any of the 50 states (fees may vary by state)

The employee

  • Full-time: averages 30+ hours a week and earns $26,000+ a year
  • Part-time: works 30 hours a week or less and earns $16,000+ a year
  • Is an active employee who meets the criteria (people enrolled in Medicaid can't participate through pre-tax payroll deductions)

The household

  • Up to 7 additional household members, for 8 people in total
  • Members don't need to be legal dependents
  • Changes can be made at open enrollment or after a qualifying life event

From discovery call to first visit

  1. Discovery call. The employer meets with a licensed program advisor.
  2. Plan goes live. The program advisor confirms the go-live schedule during setup. Most employees are enrolled automatically.
  3. Employee Q&A. A 30-minute session walks employees through the benefits.
  4. Logins arrive. Login details arrive after go-live. Benefits can be used right away.

Common questions

What do employees pay?

Nothing out of pocket. The program has fees, but they are covered through the program's payroll structure, so there are no out-of-pocket fees or costs. Take-home pay doesn't change.

Is there paperwork or claims to file?

Most employees are enrolled automatically by their employer, and there are no reimbursement claims to file. Care is accessed directly.

Is an insurance card needed?

Not for virtual care, which works through the app, the online platform or by phone. Eligible employees receive their MEC card by email.

Will the employer see health information?

No. The program follows HIPAA, and the employer only gets general participation data, not personal health records.

Does it replace current health insurance?

No. Employees keep their current coverage, and no existing insurance is required.

Do the benefits expire at the end of the year?

No. Benefits stay active as long as the employee remains enrolled and the employer maintains the program.

What happens when someone leaves the job?

The benefits are for active employees and end when employment ends.

Can an employee opt out?

Yes. Employees can opt out using the link in the program's newsletter email.

Who answers tax or coverage questions?

A licensed program professional handles all plan, coverage and enrollment questions. StaffCare Plan does not give tax, legal or insurance advice.
